Vicki Sanders - Owner
Vicki Sanders is a long-time executive management professional with expertise in business strategy, management, and new product development with a wealth of experience in magazine and book publishing, online business models, and events.
She spent the better part of 20 years working for Music Player Network, the premier publisher of magazines and websites for musicians. She began her career there in the early 1980's, working her way up through Production and Sales until she became Publisher for Bass Player and Guitar Player.
In 1999, she left her 18-year career with the music magazines to explore new opportunities and broaden her skills at Vulcan Venture-funded Harmony Central - the world's largest online musician community - where as director of sales and business development she built, managed, and led a team of sales specialists to sell online advertising and forge partnerships with complementary business partners.
A year later, she was hired as director of corporate sales for O'Reilly Media - a highly respected publisher of technical books, websites, and conferences - where she built and managed the sales effort for O'Reilly's innovative Web reference, Safari Books Online. However, her love for magazine publishing and the musical instrument industry soon brought her back to her roots, and in mid-2003 she returned to Guitar Player and Bass Player as publisher of both titles where she worked to aggressively build circulation and advertising market share. The success of these efforts was recognized by Folio magazine, where she was included in the 2005 "Folio: 40." Later that year she was promoted to Vice President and Group Publisher for the music division where she oversaw brand strategy, online product development, and held full profit and loss responsibility for the Music Player Network.
In April 2008, Vicki joined TechWeb as Director of Sales for its Web 2.0 events, including Web 2.0 Expo and Web 2.0 Summit, and after just seven months, she was laid off as part of a company-wide restructuring effort and began searching for employment. It didn't take her long to realize that her corporate career had overtaken her home life, so Vicki started looking for opportunities that would allow her the flexibility she needed in order to spend more time as a wife and mother to her three children. When she heard about Cybertary and Patricia Beckman's story, she knew she had found the right fit and purchased San Mateo, Belmont, and San Carlos as her territory.
Vicki lives with her husband and three children in Belmont, CA and is a life-long resident of the San Francisco Bay Area.
